Our Story
Sahasra means “a thousand” in Sanskrit — the thousand petals of the lotus flower, symbol of full awakening.
Founded in 2019, Sahasra began as a small yoga class in Thiruvananthapuram and has grown into a full sanctuary for authentic practice — offering yoga, meditation, pranayama, and the traditional arts of Kerala and India.
Our Mission
In an age of fast content and quick fixes, Sahasra stands for depth. We believe that the ancient practices of yoga and traditional Indian music are not relics of the past but living systems of wisdom that are more relevant than ever.
Our approach is grounded in authenticity — we learn from lineage holders, practice with sincerity, and transmit what we have received with care and precision.
Through Sahasra Yoga and Sahasra Kalakshethra, we serve practitioners at every stage of their journey — from curious beginners to serious advanced students — in a warm, inclusive and intellectually rigorous environment.
Every practice we teach comes from a living tradition, not a wellness trend.
We are more than a studio — we are a sangha, a community of sincere seekers.
Structured curricula that take students from beginner to mastery.
Traditional arts and yoga should not be the preserve of the few.
Our Team
Founder & Lead Yoga Teacher
With over 15 years of personal practice and 8 years of teaching experience, Priya brings a grounded, heart-centred approach to yoga and meditation. Trained in the Sivananda and Krishnamacharya traditions, she is also an accomplished practitioner of Sopana Sangeetham.
Senior Yoga Teacher
Arjun discovered yoga during a period of burnout and never looked back. His teaching blends the physicality of Vinyasa with the introspective depth of Pranayama. He holds a 500-hour RYT certification and has trained with masters across India.
Chenda Master
Rajan Nambiar is a third-generation Chenda vidwan from Thrissur, Kerala. He has performed in temple festivals across Kerala and has been recognized by the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi for his contribution to the preservation of traditional percussion arts.
Tabla & Thabala Instructor
A disciple of the Lucknow gharana, Mohammed Rashid has been performing and teaching tabla for over 20 years. His patient, structured teaching style has produced many accomplished students across age groups.
Mrudangam Artist
Suresh Pillai trained under the legendary Palakkad Mani Iyer school and has been the principal mrudangist for several Carnatic vocalists across South India. His teaching emphasizes theory alongside practical technique.
Sopana Sangeetham Vocalist
Latha Krishnan is a rare practitioner of the Sopana tradition, trained directly under traditional temple musicians of Thiruvananthapuram. She has performed at major temples and cultural events across Kerala.
